I met Darsie briefly in Baltimore through my sister, a neighbor of Darsie's. This sounds like a tremendous opportunity and has piqued my curiosity about the Walker.

Hi,

I live in a country (Portugal) of great History, unfortunately the successive governs, institutions (official or not), little have done to connect people to museums.
I'm not aware of what really is the job of a curator - well, I know that he/she advises on what works of art are worth of considering for the collection, supervises the permanent collection and interacts with other museums and collectors, only to name a few. But of course that I don't know about everything related to a curator's function.
However one thing I find quite important: the interaction between a museum and its visitors, namely the surrounding community.
It's important to make people feel like they are an important part of the museum, be it through guiding tours, workshops and other relevant events.
To Darsie I send my votes of success.

Kind regards,

José Carrilho

What a great addition for the Walker! We love Darsie and also know of her work at the BMA. We are very excited to visit Minneapolis soon to see what shape her vision takes at the Walker -- and of course, to see how she is faring in the fabulous Twin Cities. Congratulations to all! Andy and Jennifer (Lincoln NE)
