I doubt that was the first retrospective of a chinese artist to ever happen in china but good job patting yourself on the back! Its good to know that art only counts if it is in the euro-american pseudo intellect tradition. Hope you suffer!

I've seen the piece at MassMOCA; that was one of the memorable ones and really liked it. Its nice to know it originated here, at the Walker, which is a fantastic place by the way (I've heard about it for years and finally made it here).

Wow, such power. Thanks. Interesting to see the aluminum signpost installed upright. It was tipped over here, right?

Hello, Paul. thanks for the kind words. I'm making the images larger--or rather, Justin is. yes, Mr. Huang was there to install as he was at each venue. He's been going back to China since at least the early 2000s, and I don't think there's any trouble in him going back, despite all the troubles he caused with his Bat Projects.

Fascinating post, Doryun (you should do more!). House of Oracles was hands-down my favorite Walker show, so it's good to see it weaving its way around the world. My only beef with your post: I'd love to see bigger pictures to get a better view of the amazing installation.

So Huang was there to install? Didn't he defect when he was in Paris in '89? Does the Chinese government allow him unfettered access?
