NYU as a biography does not note that the distiguished art historian passed away last December.  He is much missed

by many historians and students.  Inclusions of his comments here are one more testament to his continued importance and

remarkable abiltiy to pair images and visually illuminate ideas that make us think about art in new ways.  Thanks.</description>
