2009 ALL CITY YOUTH VIDEO SHOWCASE

Check out this entertaining afternoon of films made by directors under the age 18. Ranging from a story about a man’s journey in the world of drag racing and rock and roll (Drag Racing Life) to an animated film depicting the crushing stress of life (Humpty Dumpty), the All City Youth Video Showcase is a inspiring look into the future of filmmaking. The videos are selected and curated by a panel of young filmmakers and is presented by TCYMN, a collective of 18 organizations and schools that creates programs, events and opportunities that support young filmmakers. Bdote Film Project

Hello I’m Robert Deloria, and I’m starting my next short film project. My film is about the Minesota and Mississipi river and the significance it has to the dakota people, and the events that took place around the river’s during The dakota war of 1862 which with the mass execution of thrity- eight dakota people on december 26 1862. Bdote translates into ‘where they meet’ which refers to the minnesota and mississippi river. For the time being my knowledge is limited to none and I’ll keep you informed on what I learn. I

The Music Video Workshop will be instructed by our very own Minneapolis video director Maria Juranic! Maria has worked with local hip-hop artists such as Eyedea & Abilities of Rhymesayers Entertainment and Cecil Otter and P.O.S. of Doomtree Redords. Maria brings a fresh energy to everything she does and will be sure to provide some great insight into the Music Video industry. Check out the video she did for P.O.S. below. There are still a few spots open for the Music Video workshop, five-week course taught by Maria where you collaborate with teen bands to make a music video. Meets Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 4 – 6 PM, starting November 10^th and ends December 9^th .

$35 registration fee; All applications must be in by November 2^nd.

Haegue Yang Research

Working with non-traditional materials such as customized venetian blinds and sensory devices including lights, infrared heaters, scent emitters, and fans, Haegue Yang (b. 1971; lives and works in Berlin and Seoul) constructs complex and nuanced installations that collapse the space between the concrete and the fleeting. Yang’s recent works explore the real and metaphorical relationships between her material surroundings and emotional responses, attempting to give form and meaning to experiences that exist outside conventional order.

Haegue recently gave an Artists Talk last Thursday, September 24th and will be coming today to pay WACTAC a visit.

“Combo” by Blu and David Ellis

Blu and David Ellis recently collaborated to create “COMBO“, an time-lapse animation shot in old Italian courtyard. It was created during Italy’s “Fame Festival,” which hosts and finances artists for several weeks. Check it out below!
