I know so little about Jerome Bel, really, that I'm not sure I can say he's my #1 favorite dance artist, but it does feel right to think about him that way. After I saw my first piece in 2001 I became an immediate fan. Smart and gentle, shocking and true. I encourage you all to go! It's such a treat to be able to see him here since he doesn't come to the U.S. that often. What can visual art be after Marcel? What can music be after John Cage? What can theater be after Yoko's "Audience Piece"? What can live art be after Tehching Hsieh (find out about him too)? Jerome Bel plays in that realm and widens it. Thank you.
