Field Office and Staff

Field Office

The Walker’s Education and Community Programs department goes public this summer, with “outpost offices” at the FlatPak House and on Open Field. Join staff members every Thursday and Friday for informal conversations, activities, and experiments related to our work as museum educators and our shared interests in art, life, and learning. Find out more about who we are and what we are up to here. Drop by or check out the Open Field site for updates.

Christina Alderman

Program Manager, Family Programs

Role on the field:

Maker, Explorer, Daydreamer

Interests:

Education models, theories of play, art criticism and interpretation. I also love children’s books, young adult fiction, video games, cats, and perfecting the art of gluten free cooking

Abbie Anderson

Administrative Assistant, Education & Community Programs; Field Office Fellow

Interests:

ArtsConnectEd, Free-Choice Learning, Impractical Labor, The Museum of Everyday Life, mindfulness practices, phenology, citizen science, and making as discovery

Susy Bielak

Associate Director, Public and Interpretive Programs

Role on the field:

Facilitator, programmer, researcher, collaborator, writer, participant

Interests:

I’m interested in programming and interpretation with experimentation, research, and learning at their core. I’m interested in  transdisciplinary collaboration, radical education, creating an archive of the commons, and developing an expanded classroom. My own work blends research, narrative, material metaphor, and, increasingly, absurdity. I also like tearing up a dance floor, cooking, biking, and visiting bodies of water.

Ashley Duffalo

Program Manager, Public and Community Programs

Role on the field:

Open Field Programmer

Interests:

I’m interested in how people participate in culture through cooperation, collaboration, art, education, and acts of exchange and generosity. I’m also interested in learning about urban environments, their design, and how people live together in cities. My favorite field activities include sharing a meal, singing karaoke, or having a conversation with friends and strangers alike.

Courtney Gerber

Assistant Director of Education, Tour Programs

Role on the field:

I’m a runner (I help out with whatever needs an extra pair of hands) and a participant. This summer I’ll technically be off the Field and on maternity leave but will most likely show up with the new Walker baby for some Open Field exposure. Who says a two-month old can’t be a Drawing Club regular?

Interests:

I’m interested in what happens when museums give over a certain amount of control around program development to their public, and the environments/situations that best support this model of sharing and interaction.

Lindsay Kaplan

Open Field Coordinator

Role on the field:

Organizing Public Programming on the Field.
Social choreographer, art orchestrator, mess cleaner-upper.

Interests:

Community engagement, art making, adventuring, baking, eating, and a growing interest in social dance.

Ilene Krug Mojsilov

Art Lab Coordinator

Role on the field:

Art-making instigator, accomplice, and audience member

Interests:

I’m interested in spontaneous happenings. For those fast clip moments, I like using the camera and for times of stillness, I prefer drawing, painting, and assemblage.

Adriana Rimpel

Program Manager, Teen Programs

Role on the field:

To participate in Open Field activities, engage in conversation, and take-in the good weather.

Interests:

I’m interested in experiencing the exchange of ideas, practices, and stories on the field and doing something new. I’m also a visual artist, lead vocalist for local band Malamanya, and have a strong admiration for tap dancing.
