I have always believed that graphic design is an art form in its own right. The internet and 'performance' style lectures are stretching the bounderies and it's exciting.

Well finally graphic design is an art form. Almost ALL art media of of today were initially "graphic Design" (communications) media. From cave painting to woodcut prints to lithography and stained glass and mosaics. They all communication media. The clients were the churches to brothels. Who has the biggest buildings in the past; religions then governments now insurance companys. They all promised the same thing; Some kind of life after death...and they used the artist/graphic designer to get there message across. Today "artists" use these media to get their personal messages across. So why not jump the gun and use the media of the graphic designer today to create personal art. Web pages that are pure art (personal expression) Books magazines billboards signage (the graffiti artists of L.A.) Why should graphic design be about someone elses message or expression.
