• Artspeak: Hear Twin Cities artist Jay Heikes, part of the three-person show Ordinary Culture (opening tomorrow), discuss his work with The Current’s Mary Lucia. Then meet the artist, along with Los Angeles’ Rodney McMillian and New York’s Adam Helms, at a free talk tonight. Above: installation technician Randy Reeves touches up Helms’ installation of ink-on-vellum drawings.

• Passing: Jason Rhoades, the audacious installation artist from Los Angeles, dies suddenly last Tuesday. Hailed for performative installations that combine “humor… buffoonery…. [and] more importantly a poignant, tragic quality throughout,” Rhoades was praised by Museum of Contemporary Art chief curator Paul Schimmel as “one of the most significant artists of his generation.” According to his gallerist, the cause of death was heart failure.

• Been there, done that: Walker director Kathy Halbreich, having been there herself, weighs in on the construction delays at ICA Boston. Her reply: “Regrettable but understandable.”
