Traipsing through the Alaskan wilderness to trace the life and death of bear enthusiast Timothy Treadwell might seem like stressful work, but for Grizzly Man director Werner Herzog, it seems the civilized world might be more dangerous. Over the weekend, he came to the rescue of Walk the Line star Joaquin Phoenix who crashed his car near Herzog’s LA home, and during a recent interview, the 63-year old German director was allegedly shot by a crazed fan (”He just carried on with the interview while bleeding quietly in his boxer shorts.”).
