Please join me in welcoming an updated homepage to the Walker’s site. The homepage incorporates the Walker’s new identity system and shows rotating list including highlights and upcoming events. We’ve also updated the first row of annoucements under the Flash movie to more prominently feature the blogs and give a short list of important links.
Here is a screenshot of the new front of walkerart.org

and for archival comparisons here is the old one:

UPDATE
For further archival reference I posted a list of links to the homepages of years past on our NMI page.
Looks great, guys!

I thought everyone knew better than to use scrolling content on the internet now. So glad we have a new ‘improved’ version of the old marquee tag, even though it’s every bit as annoying. Otherwise the rest of the tweaks are fine, but the scrolling is not web kosher by any means.

hey guys, i really like the design, look, colors, fonts….but the scrolling is killing me. it seriously makes me dizzy and i thought for the first couple of visits that you had completely removed the navigation. i just couldn’t see it b/c my eyes were trying too hard to process the scrolling. i don’t know if you’ve seen this with flash pieces like this on other parts of your web pres., but we get really poor click through rates on this kind of stuff. people are just much more likely to click on static images that look clickable as opposed to moving images like this.
that’s my wholly unscientific summary of why the scrolling might not be the best….but the key thing is that you guys are changing it up and trying new things. you might want to think about parsing out an xml file to show the text that supports this flash item to the googlebots and non-flash users….
cheers,
bryan
