As part of the coming Art on Call cellphone-based audio tour and information system, we’ve discussed the option of making equivalent content available on the web and possibly iPods. We’re not the first to think of this.
Even cooler, apparently there’s an API for putting the iPod into “Museum Mode”, or notes mode, which lets users browse text in a folder hierarchy with links to audio or playlists.
We totally need to do this, and design with this in mind - web interface, iPod interface, plain audio interface.
Maybe you should just instal linux on your ipod or something. There is a lot of generally good on this iPod Linux page. And its a wiki.

just traveled to DC and downloaded this really good iPod audio tour..check out http://www.myguidepod.com. These guys have created an audio tour of washington DC (and i think Boston too) that is really nice. It has background music and sound effects with clips for about 25 memorials and museums. It can be downloaded to your iPod or any other mp3 player.

Why not let people submit their own podguides, so everybody can access them for free and be able to listen to podguides with a personal touch. at least that’s what I’m hoping to build. A PodGuides community. C’mon. There must be some interesting things to see in your own neighbourhood.
