Due to inclement weather tonight’s event has been relocated to the Walker Cinema. Andy Palacio and the Garifuna Collective will begin at 7pm, and Magnificent Obsession will begin at 8:30pm. As seating is limited, the performance and film will be ticketed separately. Free tickets to the performance and/or the film will be available from the Bazinet lobby desk starting at 6:30 pm.

  1. Hi. Thanks for posting this change well ahead of the evening program. That helps us to plan. It would be even better if we could secure the free tickets online, to avoid having to come early to minimize risk of not getting in for the film. [We are much less interested in the music, so it would have been nice to be able to aim for arrival at 2015.]

As it is, we will try to come a little earlier than that, hoping there will be decent seats remaining.

    Thanks for offing these films.

  2. Seems to me, if free tickets were available online, they’d get snatched up by people who might not use them. Getting off one’s backside means a bit more commitment to showing up and filling the limited seats that are available.

  3. Thanks for the comments. I completely understand what you’re saying, Jack, but PAS is exactly right in regards to our intentions. We want to make sure that the tickets get picked up by folks that can and will use them in hopes of not turning people away when there are empty seats in the Cinema. In any case, thanks for the interest and support. I hope you were able to make it down for Magnificent Obsession.

  4. We did enjoy the film, but not the wait while the music over-ran the 2000 termination and was continued via recorded music until film began 10+ min late. [Too loud for my ears, which have not been conditioned to those levels of sound.] Turns out there were quite a few empty seats, so we could have arrived at last minute, but of course did not know that ahead. [We did make productive use of the half hour between picking up tickets at 1830 and 2000, by strolling through the great outdoor sculpture garden.]

Perhaps a good compromise would be to offer half the tickets online, at a nominal charge to discourage no-shows (perhaps $1.00 or $0.50 each). Even better would be to offer selection of seats for those. General admission seats would still be available on first-come, first serve basis for those who prefer that.

Thanks for considering suggestions and producing the fine programs.
