Introducing: Mt Holly Radio Presents Storytime Mixtape & the Sounds of Fluxus, a collaborative program created by Mike Haeg and Peter Hajinian

Come to the Walker on the evening of June 19th, with an AM radio (or a device that picks up AM), a blanket, some friends, your family, a pad of paper or knitting if you like to keep your hands busy while you listen, and be ready to listen and enjoy some audio entertainment.

Created because: so much of our culture and lives are visual, and so many of our gatherings are based on going to see a band, watch a movie, catch up on a TV show or enjoy the visual arts. Here’s a chance to let our ears and theater of the mind be catered to.

Looks like: a bunch of people with their ears tuned to transistor radio (or radio of their choice) while they lay back and watch the clouds, eat a snack, or draw what they think the characters they’re listening to look like.

Might remind you of: sitting around the giant chestnut cabinet speaker in the parlor and listening to sounds of the Golden Age of Radio with friends and family. Maybe if you’re 85. For those 84 and under, it will remind of being read to at storytime, books on tape, and podcasts.

Helpful if: you need to give your eyes a rest.
