Abstract Resistance, the Walker’s newest exhibition, opens to the public tomorrow.

Curated by Yasmil Raymond the exhibition highlights works in the Walker’s collection including several recent acquisitions by artists such as Thomas Hirschhorn, Gedi Sibony and Rachel Harrison. The artists in the exhibition offer work that is slippery, indefinable, and opens doors to many ideas but isn’t about one idea. Raymond says in her essay for the exhibition,
Contending with Comfort: The Possibility of an Abstract Resistance, “the notion of art as resistance is conceived not as a means to find answers, but as a basis for asking questions that might make it possible for us to face them.”

Are you curious, perplexed, or provoked? We hope so. In fact, we’re betting on your curiosity and are offering a unique opportunity for visitors. Interpreters will be available in the Abstract Resistance galleries to discuss the art and ideas of the exhibition throughout its three-month run. Approachable guides will be roaming the galleries on Target Free Thursday Nights, Free First Saturdays, and the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays of March, April and May.
