  1. This is an amazing story. I lost my grandfather to Alzheimer’s just this year and know firsthand the effect it can have on entire families. I would love to hear more about this production, and other links between performing arts and dementia.

    I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your grandfather. I would encourage you to look at Live Action Set’s website to learn more about My Father’s Bookshelf. They’ve posted a collection of reviews of the play and Galen and Noah’s MPR interview. Also, you might be interested in the work of a woman named Anne Basting who is the Director of the Center on Age & Community and an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre at the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Anne developed a program called Time Slips: Creative Storytelling, which uses group storytelling with people who have dementia as a means to unleashing creativity and imagination.
