By the end of the book, I had really come to see them as a race; a people with a long history and rich culture. They may have exhibited vampiric behavior (the blood drinking) but they weren't really vampires. Well, not in my I've-read-every-Anne-Rice-and-Laurell-K.-Hamilton-book mind. :o) Mmmm, vampires...
