Its interesting to imagine the effect the standard East/West world map has had on the majority of people’s understanding of the world, and where they are within it. Its borders are so much more drastic – clean separations of peoples and geographies as opposed to the global archipelago POV. Let alone the Up North Down South tendencies…

eric, not only the standart east/west. as well the representation. there a lot of different kind of maps giving a complete different impresson of the world. my favourite (as european) is still the map that shows country sizes in their real relation to each other.
