“Blue Iris brings together the dependable aspects of blue, underscored by a strong, soul-searching purple cast. Emotionally, it is anchoring and meditative with a touch of magic.”
Pantone’s color of the year!
While I can totally embrace Chad’s color of the year, sometimes I feel the need for something a bit sharper. When I do, I go here: http://www.international-klein-blue.com/
Mind-jarring IKB (International Klein Blue)!
According to our friends at Wikipedia: “The secret of IKB’s remarkable visual impact comes from its heavy reliance on Ultramarine, as well as [Yves] Klein’s often thick and textured application of paint to canvas.
IKB was developed by Klein and chemists to have the same color brightness and intensity as dry pigments, which it achieves by suspending dry pigment in a clear synthetic resin. This new medium was patented by Klein.” Sadly, even the most sophisticated electronic resources fail to due IKB justice on the screen.
IKB is arguably best seen on the body of an otherwise naked woman…or so I’m told.
There will be more about M. Klein in summer 2009 when the Walker and Hirshhorn Museum open a retrospective of his work here in Minneapolis.
I know this color. This is the color I used to think would look good whenever I wanted to add a splash of color to my black and grey websites back in the day, perhaps as a rollover link color, and it NEVER DID.
Poor form, Pantone, poor form.
I think this guy is taking the color of the year a little too seriously:

And Emmet, your pants aren’t beige, they’re “cosmic latte”.

My pants are the color of the universe.
